Frequently Asked Questions

Is it worth hiring a guide in Lisbon?

For Alfama and the historic centre, yes — a local guide tells stories you won’t find in any guidebook and takes you to places you’d walk right past. For Sintra it’s almost essential for the logistics. For modern areas like Príncipe Real or Mouraria, you can explore alone with a map.

What is the best time to visit Lisbon?

May/June and September/October — perfect temperature (22–26°C), fewer crowds than July/August, lower flight and hotel prices. July and August are the busiest and hottest months (35–40°C). December–February has rain but minimal tourism and rock-bottom prices.

Tuk-Tuk tours in Lisbon: are they worth it?

Fun but expensive (€40–80/hour) and they can’t access many Alfama streets. A better alternative is Tram 28 (€3.10 single ticket), which covers the same historic neighbourhoods for a fraction of the price.
